Tulips, a mainstay of spring gardens, providing color from March through May, can be used in many ways in the garden and home. They can be used in rock gardens, borders, as house plants, and cut flowers. There are thousands of named varieties of tulips, in over 15 classes.
Most tulips do best in Zones 3-7. All tulips do best in full sun, but will bloom well if provided with 5-6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Propagate tulips in midsummer after the leaves wither, from the small bulbs that develop beside large ones.
