January 1, 2000     A wonderful start to a new year! A clear, beautiful day, with a few scattered high clouds. Temperature in the high 50s to low 60s.

January 15, 2000     It's been a very mild January until now--only occasional rains, with temperatures mainly in the upper 30s to upper 40s. Today's temperature is in the low 30s, but skies are clear.

January 17, 2000     A 40% chance of snow/sleet predicted for tomorrow. Clear today with temperatures in the low 40s. The birds are flocking around the feeder as if they know something is up.

January 18, 2000     Started snowing just after midnight, accumulating between 2-3 inches of fine dry powder before tapering off in the early morning, with a few flurries during mid-morning. Temperatures stayed in the mid to upper 20s, under heavy clouds all day.

January 19, 2000     Morning brought a bright sun in a cloudless sky. By mid-afternoon, sky became overcast. Temperatures up to the high 30s to low 40s at mid-day. More snow forecast for after midnight tonight, with heavier accumulations predicted. I love it when the weathermen are right. Started snowing around 11 pm.

January 20, 2000     Snowed most of night with 3-4 additional inches of accumulation. Temperature got up to upper 40s by mid-day, then started to fall. Wind picked up in the morning, increasing to gusty winds by nightfall and into late evening/night. Temperature down to mid 20s by late night. Total lunar eclipse tonight.

January 22, 2000     Cold--temperature never got out of the teens. Snow/freezing rain predicted for tonight and tomorrow.

January 23, 2000     Started snowing around midnight, with total accumulation of about 2 inches. Temperatures in the mid to high 20s all day. Stopped snowing mid morning, but sky stayed overcast all day. Should have covered my strawberries late last fall with floating row cover like I planned. I hope the snow cover will insulate them from the sub-freezing temperatures of the last few days.

January 25, 2000     Started snowing sometime during the night, with around 2 inches accumulation. Temperature to high 30s briefly.

January 27, 2000     Temperature down to 12 early this morning, with high of around 30 by mid-day.

January 28, 2000     Temperature down to 10 (b-r-r-r-r-r) early this morning, with high of around 50 by mid-day.

January 29, 2000     Temperatures right around freezing with partly cloudy/overcast skies all day until dusk. Started snowing tiny hard icy snow flakes at that time. Prediction: snow, sleet, and freezing rail all night and into tomorrow. Slick.

January 30, 2000     Temperature down to 12 early this morning, with high of around 30 by mid-day. Snow, sleet and freezing rain alternated all day until about 3 pm.
