![]() Coreopsis grandiflora |
| The flowers of coreopsis are borne on slender wiry stems and bloom abundently throughout the summer. The big-flowered coreopsis, the most popular species, grows 2 to 3 feet tall and has 2 to 3 inch blossoms. Coreopsis can remain untended in fields or sunny banks, where the plants will thrive and multiply indefinitely. They provide superb cut flowers. Coreopsis grows in Zones 4 to 10 in full sum. Infertile soil is satisfactory, but it must be well drained, especially during the winter dormant period. Space plants about 12 inches apart. New plants may be started easily from seeds or clump divisions in spring. Seeds often produce flowering plants late in the summer. Divide clumps after two or three years of flowering. |
