Geranium grandiflorum
Crane's-bills are related to the common geranium but belong to a different genus. They bear 1-inch to 2-inch flowers almost all summer and form attractive mounds of dark usually deeply lobed foliage.
Crane's-bills do best in full sun and grow in almost any garden soil, as long as it is well-drained. Plant crane's bills about a foot apart. New plants are best started from stem cuttings taken in summer. Clumps do best undisturbed. Cut old flowering stems back to the ground.

Crane's-bill is blooming 4/16/00. Crane's-bill 'Patricia' is anxious to bloom. Still in nursery container and blooming.
First of many blooms! 4/16/00. Close-up of bloom. This will be a valuable addition to the garden when in full bloom.
Finally planted! 4/24/00. Finally got this plant in the ground.
Doing well 5/10/00. Growing well and blooming nicely.
Doing well 6/2/00. Plant has bloomed continuously, though the blossom stems get a little leggy. Would probably do better with plants closer and in full sun.
New growth 6/7/00. Sending up new growth.
Gonna bloom again 6/15/00. New blossom buds have formed. (Ignore the Shasta daisy leaning over too far.)
