Oenothera

            The varieties that flower during the day are sundrops. Others, which open in the evening and close in the morning are evening primroses.
     Plant in well-drained, ordinary garden soil in full sun. Oenothera will not tolerate rich or poorly drained soil. Space 24" apart. Divide in spring when necessary. Grows 6-16" tall. Flowers spring through summer. Hardy in Zones 5-10.

  Evening Primrose IconCommon Sundrops, lemon-yellow saucer-shaped blooms atop 18 inch stems rising from a tight mat. Can become invasive.
  Evening Primrose Icon'Siskiyou Pink', dark green foliage provides a dramatic background for luminous pink, saucer-shaped flowers. Normally flowers in the late summer. Attracts hummingbirds.
