3/29/00. Verbena variety 'Homestead Purple' is coming out of it's dormancy. I cut it back severely late last fall when I planted pansys in this bed, because it had sprawled out for 4 or 5 feet.

4/8/00. If it's anything like last year, this is the first of many, many buds for this plant.
4/8/00. First fully open bloom. I think this is such a pretty plant.
5/10/00. Starting to spread and bloom a lot.
5/30/00. I may need to prune this back a little. If I do, I'll try to root some cuttings for more plants.
7/12/00. Cut back pretty severely, but it doesn't miss a beat. Rooted lots of cuttings for friends.
7/23/00. Clear purple bloom.
7/31/00. Butterflys love this plant.
8/14/00. Rooting cuttings.
8/21/00. Rooted cutting planted in street bed.
10/6/00. Blooming has fallen off since the cooler weather. Will prune back severely soon.
3/30/02. Early winter of 2001 killed the original 'Homestead Purple'. Hopefully this replacement will fare better.
3/30/02. Should be able to spread unhampered here, and not need pruning to keep it from crowding other plants.
