Spring Green Line

Hydrangea before pruning 3/11/00. This hydrangea had lots of blooms last year, but grew into a large bush by the end of the summer. I will have to prune it or it will get out of hand this year. And, its already putting out lots of new growth.
Hydrangea after pruning 3/11/00. Hydrangea after being pruned. I probably won't get many, if any, blooms this year. Just found out it should have been pruned right after flowering last year. But it had grown way too large, and a severe pruning was needed.
New hydrangea growth 4/15/00. Lots of new growth, but I still don't think I'll get blooms this year.
New hydrangea growth 5/14/00. Lots of new growth, but it should be already blooming if it was going to this year.
No blooms 5/28/00. Nope, no blooms this year. Pretty foliage, though.
Big! 7/25/00. Large, as usual.
Budding! 8/25/00. Oh, my goodness!! It's gonna bloom!
Growing! 9/4/00. Getting larger. Hope it has time to fully open before it gets too cold.
Growing! 9/15/00. Starting to show color.
Growing! 9/29/00. WOW! I think it's gonna have time to completely open before frost!
Growing! 10/3/00. Almost fully open due to the warm weather for the last few days.
Growing! 10/6/00. Gorgeous. Although no spring blooms, it more than made up for it with this lovely bloom in the fall--when flowers are very appreciated--especially unexpected ones. Will have to be more careful with spring pruning next year--do it earlier and with less enthusiasm.
Not going to make it 10/6/00. These won't open; frost predicted for the next couple of days--earlier than the average of 10/15/00.
It might make it! 10/27/00. It might make it!
Almost there 11/8/00. It's almost there!
Going dormant 11/14/00. The plant itself is getting ready to go dormant, even with flowers almost fully open.
Ice 11/20/00. Encased in ice from an ice storm.
Done for 11/25/00. Done for this year.
New growth 2/27/01. Here we go for another year.
Skeleton 4/5/01. Just a skeleton of a plant with the beginning of life starting to show.
coming on out 4/27/01. Leaves are coming on out.
Smaller 5/7/02. After blooming last year, it got a major pruning, and since it's been so dry, plant size seems to be affected.
Dug up 11/21/02. Had to dig this plant up for renovations. Not much of a root ball. Hmmmmmmm, wonder if it'll make it? Looks kind of doubtful.
Not much left 11/21/02. Here's what's left of the plant.
Planted 11/21/02. Planted in what I hope is it's final place in the garden.
Nothing yet 2/23/03. Nothing happening yet.
Woohoo!! 3/23/03. WooHoo!!! It's alive!
Woohoo!! 3/29/03. New growth growing well. I'm so pleased!
