5/23/00. I usually have pretty good luck with these seed tapes, and since I finally found some, I decided to try them for this next batch of carrots.
5/23/00. Close-up of seed tape. Seeds are barely visible. The paper will totally dissolve.
5/23/00 Board will help conserve moisture while the seeds are germinating, reducing the need to water frequently. It needs to be a little longer, but this is the only one I had on hand.
5/28/00 Seeds sprouting here and there, so I removed the board.
6/4/00 Looking OK in spots.
6/10/00 Sprouting so-so.
6/16/00 Seeds that germinated are growing OK.
7/3/00 Ok. I give up. No carrots this year.
| Summary: So much for carrots this year. Underground varmits win, so I'll wait until next year and try again in lined beds. I've had good luck with carrots in the past, so I know I can grow them. Never had the chipmunks until this year, though. I can't tell anything about this variety; never had a chance.
