Just planted Green Ice lettuce seeds 3/4/00. I planted these seeds fairly heavily too. I can always thin the seedlings and put them in salads. Since my space is small, I've decided to plant intensively this year to see how it works.
Cabbage is growing well 3/11/00. Just sprouted Green Ice lettuce. Sort of spotty germination. This is one of the heavier spots, with areas of no sprouts equal in size.
Not spectacular, but OK 4/1/00 Growing, but not what I had hoped. Sure won't have to do any thinning. Will still probably be enough, though.
Not spectacular, but still OK 4/7/00 Better, but nothing spectacular.
Coming along 4/19/00 Coming along now. We'll have a salad next week, I'll bet.
Very tasty lettuce 4/26/00 Picked lettuce for dinner tonight. Along with radishes, it was the basis for a very good salad.
Still producing 5/23/00 Still producing well, despite the warm temperatures.
Still producing 5/30/00 Still producing well, despite the warm temperatures, with no bitterness.
Summary: Very pleased with this lettuce. Grew well, and had a long season, well into warm weather. Very tasty. Definitely will grow again next year, but perhaps a little thinner and in a wider row.
